🚀 Quiz Deployment Checklist

Use this checklist to deploy your Death Readiness Assessment quiz.

Pre-Deployment

Files Setup

• [ ] Copy all quiz files to your project
• [ ] Place assessmentQuestions.json in _data/ folder
• [ ] Place .njk files in quiz/ folder
• [ ] Place JavaScript files in js/ folder
• [ ] Place Netlify function in netlify/functions/ folder
• [ ] Merge package.json dependencies
• [ ] Merge netlify.toml configuration

Dependencies

• [ ] Run npm install
• [ ] Verify @sendgrid/mail is installed
• [ ] Verify @11ty/eleventy is installed

Configuration

• [ ] Update quiz questions in assessmentQuestions.json (if needed)
• [ ] Update scoring tiers (if needed)
• [ ] Update CTA URLs in quiz data
• [ ] Customize brand colors in CSS
• [ ] Update company name in templates

Backend Setup (Choose One)

Option A: Netlify Functions + SendGrid

SendGrid Setup

• [ ] Create SendGrid account at sendgrid.com
• [ ] Verify sender email address
• [ ] Create API Key with "Full Access"
• [ ] Copy API key (shown only once!)
• [ ] Test API key with SendGrid dashboard

Netlify Configuration

• [ ] Log into Netlify dashboard
• [ ] Go to Site settings > Environment variables
• [ ] Add SENDGRID_API_KEY with your API key
• [ ] Add ADMIN_EMAIL with your email
• [ ] Add FROM_EMAIL with verified sender email
• [ ] Verify all variables are saved

Option B: Formspree (Simpler)

Formspree Setup

• [ ] Create Formspree account at formspree.io
• [ ] Create new form
• [ ] Copy form endpoint ID
• [ ] Update assessment-engine.js with form endpoint
• [ ] Configure email notifications in Formspree
• [ ] Test form with dummy submission

Testing (Local)

Local Development

• [ ] Run npm start or eleventy --serve
• [ ] Navigate to http://localhost:8080/quiz/
• [ ] Verify landing page loads
• [ ] Start quiz and check first question loads
• [ ] Answer a few questions
• [ ] Test "Previous" button
• [ ] Test "Next" button
• [ ] Close browser
• [ ] Reopen and verify progress saved
• [ ] Complete entire quiz
• [ ] Verify results page loads
• [ ] Check category breakdown displays
• [ ] Verify score calculation is correct

Browser Console

• [ ] No JavaScript errors in console
• [ ] No 404s for CSS/JS files
• [ ] No network errors
• [ ] LocalStorage saves properly

Deployment

Git & Deploy
